Alexa Chung - Style Muse?

Wether you understand it or not, Miss Chung is a walking muse. Any designer with half a mind wants her to wear their creations and designs. Personally I LOVE her and her unique style and its no secret I want to be her. (she is like my not-so-guilty pleasure) I could never afford to wear anything Haute Couture by Chanel but boy do I have fun rumaging through vintage shops and boutiques in Ireland and Glasgow trying to find pieces that resemble her stlye and when I go to New York in April I may just die and go to heaven haha. One day I hope to own my very own Alexa Mulberry bag (fingers crossed in NY this dream comes true) and it will be cherished and loved and passed down to my first born daughter to cherish and so forth :)

*if you can't dream whats the point?*

I hope you enjoy the below link and you can choose your favourite Alexa look and follow the links to style heaven

Quirky Weddings? I'd say so :)

I was delighted when I got a message from Stacey Kilpatrick of SakDesigns to do the hair for a shoot she was doing the make-up and body art for (Stacey had to hand paint Jenny's body to make it look like fine lace was the top part of a wedding dress-just stunning). It was for Cate Conway of Quirky Weddings and I jumped at the chance to work with them.
The shoot took place on the gorgeous grounds of Larchfield Estate and Jenny Curran was the beautiful model. Nicola Lyon who owns her own photography business Lift the Veil did an absolutely amazing job on the photography. As I am sure when you see the photos will totally agree :)  Tim from Floral Earth in Holywood made a beautiful bouquet for the shoot and I think even though poor Jenny was frozen solid you would never have known it was such a cold day. She was such a professional :)
I hope you enjoy looking at the photographs. I am also putting links up so you can have a nosey at their work and see how fab they are.

Angelica Tea Party

A couple of weeks ago all the girls got together to do a shoot to extend our portfolios. Grace Hughes the photographer choose the theme for the shoot and that was an angelic teaparty and I think we got it! :) We travelled to Annalong and got the use of Mullartown Camp who let us use their grounds and the lovely Gemma let us use her house so we could style and get ready there. Louise Burrows did a fab job on the make-up and Alexandra Godferry styled the shoot using clothes from Crystal Boutique in Armagh and hair bows from B Ford.
The beautiful models Sara Cahoon, Melissa Elliott and Katrina McDonnell let me loose on their heads haha. I was so lucky that they all had amazing hair. :)

Creative test shooting :)

At the end of last summer photographer Elaine Hill and make-up artist Jennifer Ireland got in contact with me to see if I would be interested in getting together to do a test shoot with them that we could just let our hair down on and get creative with. Of course I said yes! you would be mad not to! Elaine and Jennifer had already decided on the theme to be played around with and I loved it! So we met for coffee to do a wee bit of brainstorming :) Because we wanted to get it right it took months of planning and searching to finally get everything together and find the perfect models for our +/- test shoot idea.
First of, here are some behind the scene shoots of us preparing the models, the beautiful Niamh MacAuley and the gorgeous Germaine Muarui.

Both girls were brilliant and worked so well with us and each other.  It was a great day in the Catchlight Studios in Belfast.
We wanted to have six final images, 2 of Niamh, 2 of Germaine and 2 combined. We are definitely going to do a part…

Re-Live London Fashion Week

London Fashion Week may be over but like me you can still re-live it by the power of the internet :) Great thing technology heehee. You can view the collections from designers like Christopher Kane to the House of Holland and if like me you cannot afford to buy anything from their amazing collections you can search the high street and use their inspiration to re-create your own version. Plus, its so much fun to do :)
Click the link below to guide you to designer Christopher Kane's Auntumn/Winter 2012/13 collection and watch Jade Partiff talk to the man himself about his inspirations that lead to this collection. Enjoy, I know I did - xo

Amazing Grace indeed!

The creative director of US Vogue Grace Coddington is an amazing woman. Back in the day when Grace modelled, she got photographed by her then husband Willie Christie and he is now showing his collection.

Belfast Fashion Week

PR queen Cathy Martin created Belfast Fashion Week and each year it goes from strength to strength. It is great to see Northern Irelands local designers getting invloved and creating some amazing pieces for the shows. My personal favourite is Grainne Maher, she is just amazing and her headpieces and necklaces just blow me away.

I didnt work on the hair for the designer evening but I was lucky enough to assist session hairstylist Joe Mcgivern on the final evening in the Europa Hotel. I stayed backstage to help Joe with making sure the models hair was kept perfect and to his high standard before the models took to the catwalk. With all the changes the models had to do the hair did get battered quite abit haha.

Here are some images of Grainnes work from the designer night -

Belfast Fashion Week

I was honoured to be asked to assist Joe Mcgivern on the final evening of Belfast Fashion Week. I worked in Blue Hairdressing throughout the day and then headed round to the Europa Hotel for 6pm to help with the hair. I got to meet lots of lovely people. The girls from Nicholas Grahams Aveda salon in Bangor were great, lovely girls and great hairdressers. Paddy McGurgan worked his magic with the make-up as always and the gorgeous Zoe Salmon presented the whole evening.
I will update images and links when I get them.
Here are two photos Joe took of me - more to follow - xo

Wedding Belle's

I am a very lucky girl to have so many lovely talented friends and in this issue of Northern Irelands's Wedding Belle I got to see some of them work their magic :) Nikita modelled for their front cover and looked absolutely gorgeous as always! and Ursula did an interview to talk about her business BFord were she makes amazing hand made headpieces. I was honoured to wear one of Ursula's feather head bands on my own wedding day and I did all the hair for the images Ursula choose to put into her piece for the magazine.

It was very strange to see my name as Lynette Ball again as I got married in November and have just got used to seeing Lynette Murray. Nice though :)- xo
