Booking your Bridal Hairstylist

You’ve said “YES”, you’re literally floating on cloud 9. Venue and date are set, planning has begun.

If hair is of great importance to you, DON’T put booking your favourite wedding hairstylist off. You may have been following their work on social media and would love to book them. If like me, their bridal diary could be booked up months to a year in advance.
You don’t want to be disappointed in not booking part of your dream team.

Think about style, and how you envision yourself on your big day.

Book hairstylists who will travel to your home/hotel on your wedding morning.
Let us come to you.

Contact hairstylists directly via phone, email, website. Once contacted by brides, I check availabilty of their date, then forward my wedding letters and pricing to them and we take it from there.

Meet your potential bridal hairstlyist for coffee (green tea for me) and seek their guidance in regards to hair accessories and viels. You can get a real feel for someone once you’ve actually met them.

I love to meet all my brides for chats to find out their style and vision for their big day.
Make moodboards – pinterest, images from websites or magazines. It’s better to have actual images you love rather than trying to verbally explain. It gives us a better understanding of what your bridal vision is. We don’t mind looking through the images, it’s our job and we love it!

The internet is a wonderful crutch for wedding planning. Do your research.

·      Search blogs – Inspire , One Fab Day, Both do Real Life Weddings
·      Websites – Facebook - Instagram
·      Stalk people (it’s okay to stalk and have a good nosey)
·      Set yourself a budget
·      Decide on what kind of bride you want to be

Last but not least, remember your future hubby or wife has asked YOU to marry them, not a version of what you think a “bride” should look like.

Don’t be afraid to be yourself.

A bride is YOU!

Jewellery with Meaning

When it comes to my job, I get to meet lots of fabulous people. Therefore, I'm given the opportunity to work for companies and create hair for their campaigns. One of them recently was for jewellery company Argento. They have an exclusive range called Karma Jewellery.

I fell in love with Karma Jewellery and even more so when I discovered that every piece of jewellery is designed and handcrafted here in Belfast. With each piece sold they aim to promote consciousness and unity by working with, and supporting local charities. For every bangle you purchase, Karma give 10% back to their chosen hand selected charities.

Incorporated into every piece is the symbolism of positive energy, the collection allows you to express individual style through a range of colours, tokens and symbols.

Why choose to wear any other bangle when you know you could be looking good, feeling good and doing good with your very own piece of Karma.

Remember their hashtag #jewellerywithmeaning

This video was created by the talented Robin from Little Giant Films http://littlegiant.uk

It was to showcase the fabulous collection from Karma Jewellery http://www.argento.co.uk/en/Karma-Rose-Gold-Feather-Bangle/m-54953.aspx
exclusively for Argento http://www.argento.co.uk

Model Carrie Ann was amazing https://www.instagram.com/carriethecreep/

A huge thank you to Argento for choosing me to create the hair for this showcase video

You know when you just click with someone? Well, it happens in my job too.
All my brides are wonderful and I love them all equally, but I want to tell you about this one girl in particular. Her name is Catherine. She was marrying her best friend Aaron at the Galgorm Resort in Ballymena and chose me to create her wedding hair. From the start, we just had the best of fun! From her hen party hair to creating her bridal hair, Catherine and I were on the same wave length.

We created a beautiful soft up style with a plait and low messy bun for her bridal hair and created soft complimenting up styles for her bridesmaids. Catherine added a beautiful head piece by Luna Bea Bride (one of my favourite headpiece designers ever!!!) to her hair and the talent that is Janet from The Flower Room Belfast, not only made all her wedding flowers, but created beautiful real flower pieces for the girls hair too.

Her wedding dress was from The White Gallery in Newry, where Rachel carries some stunningly beautiful exclusive bridal gowns. One of which Catherine clearly chose. I loved it! The lovely Tippy from That's so Tippycal makeup created her bridal look and we had a wonderful morning with everyone getting ready and celebrating with Catherine and her family.

Photographer Chris Copeland captured Catherine and Aaron's wedding day beautifully and not only is he super talented, but he's a true gentleman too. Such a lovely person to be around and I can see why Catherine and Aaron chose him to capture their special day. I just wanted to share their wedding with you all. You can check out their full wedding as it was featured on June Bug Weddings by clicking on the link below.

I truly love my job and treasure all my lovely moments I get to spend with my brides and their families and friends.

Bye for now.

Be Inspired ...

Special Places

Being part of any brides special day is a privilege, but when they've chosen the same venue that I too got married in, well, that's extra special.
Jill and Conor got married in The Ulster Museum in Belfast, at Botanic Gardens.

The lovely Jill contacted me about creating her bridal hair. She was worried about her natural curly hair, the frizz, and all the other issues that come with having beautiful curls. Between us we came up with a style that suited her and enhanced her natural hair. Blowdrying and setting Jill's hair before creating her up style really worked for her hair. I loved creating Jill's Bridal hair and getting to spend the morning with her and her family at her parents home.

There are lots of amazing wedding vendors in the North and South of Ireland and Jill and Conor chose some amazing people to help make their day special. Photographer Des Rowan captured their special day perfectly. Not only is he a very charming and lovely man to be around, but he is an amazing photographer, as from checking out the link below, you will see for yourself.

And, as you all know by now, I have an open love (P.D.A) for my friend and make up artist Jennifer Ireland,  who also created my bridal makeup too. She has such a lovely soul and creates some of the most stunning bridal looks. Jill looked flawless on her wedding day.
Jill also put her trust in the crazy talented and very charismatic Tim from Floral Earth. What that man and his team can create out of flowers is breathtaking.

When you check out the link below you will see for yourself just how magical Jill and Conor's wedding day was. From start to finish it was truly a magical day, and I am extremely thankful and honoured to have even played my little role, on such an important day.

Sustaining Your Natural Beauty

With so many chemicals being added into our food and sprayed on our food,
to "preserve" it, we need to try to eat as healthy as possible and know where our produce is coming from. We need to know what we are actually putting into our bodies and how it can be affecting our health.
Sore joints and bones? Fresh Ginger is amazing to help.
Sore gums? Fresh pineapple is fab.

The same goes for our hair and skin products. Washing your hair and moisturising your skin is just as important. The ingredients go into your system the same way food does.
This is why I LOVE the Davines products.

Not only are they environmentally friendly and sustainable, but, they

The following paragraph has been taken from their official website

Founded in Parma, Italy in 1983 by the Bollati Family, Davines Group started as a research laboratory, producing high-end hair care products for renowned cosmetic companies worldwide. After a decade of honing our expertise, we began creating our own brand of Davines hair care products exclusively for salons, and in 1996 founded[ comfort zone ] skin care for premier spas.
Since the beginning, we’ve focused on crafting quality products that are scientifically engineered to work, and express our distinctive style and spirit.
Check out their website and Facebook pages for updates on all their amazing products, and to find salons that stock their gorgeous products.
The salon I work from, Blue Hairdressing, 13 Clarence Street, Belfast, BT2 8DY stocks the Davines range. We use it at the back wash also, so you get the full effect of the shampoo and conditioners that you would be using at home.

I even have their blow-dry range in my bridal kit. It is such a luxurious and amazing product.

Honestly, once you start using Davines, you won't go back. My own bathroom is stocked with the Oi shampoo and conditioner. It is so lovely and makes my hair feel and look fabulous.

Thank you for listening to me.

My first Nomination Award .... EEK!!!

Below I have copied and pasted the explanation of the Mrs2Be Brides' Choice Awards.

I am so honoured and delighted to have been put forward for this award. My brides from 2015 have kindly and lovingly taken the time to vote for me and I am over the moon that they did.

The awards are not vote driven, but will be picked by the judges. Even to be nominated is such an honour to me.

Good luck to all the applicants in the wedding industry and I wish you all the best in your future success within your line of expertise.

wish me luck peeps xo

The Mrs2Be Brides’ Choice Awards were launched in 2014. The awards are the first and only Irish wedding industry awards that are based on a detailed review process involving each entrant’s previous customers. Entrants are judged on a range of criteria including professionalism and quality.
To win or to be shortlisted for a Mrs2Be Brides’ Choice is a real achievement. Our awards cannot be bought and they are not your typical “click to vote” popularity contest.
The Brides’ Choice Awards are open to all venues and registered businesses who offer a wedding-related service to Irish-based couples regardless of whether or not they are customers of Mrs2Be. Our awards recognise excellent quality of service, professionalism and flexibility of wedding suppliers and venues.

Jamberry Nail Fun

Well guys, you know me. I try my hardest to keep up to date with my blog, but these days between life and work, and well, being a full time mum to a beautiful little 2&1/2 year old daughter Florence. My life is pretty hectic. Fun, but mad!

I am always trying to think of cool things that I think Florence would like to do. As a mum, I want the best for my daughter and being a little weird, I don't like to put nail polish on her finger nails. One, it's toxic and I don't want her biting it off and eating it. Two, trying to get a 2 year old to sit and wait for her nails is dry is, well, stupid and not going to happen, hehe!! Three, Jamberry nails are 100% non toxic & safe, and totally kind to her skin........... and Four, I'm a sucker for anything I can do with Florence that brings us closer together and we can share proper mummy, daughter Anyone who knows Florence, knows only too well her love of stickers. So when my friend Cathy came to me with her new business venture, I was suitably excited and had to buy ALL the skull and dinosaur nails. Like, please! who doesn't need a little dinosaur or polka dot on your baby finger?!

Please click on her link to her Facebook page below and you can see all the exciting Jamberry nail activities you can get involved with.

The following images are from when we did the skull and polka dot wraps on Florence's nails. She loves them and shows them off to anyone who will listen, hehe.

The link below will take you straight to Cathy's Jamberry website and explain everything that is fabulous about Jamberry nails.

Please check it out guys.

Thank you. xo

Hey all, I haven't been on my blog for so long. Life has just been mad, from looking after my 2 1/2 year old daughter Florence, to juggling my salon life and bridal business, time has just eluded me!

The lovely Kate Spears, owner of Ivory&Pearl Bridal Boutique asked me a few questions about my bridal business and I was only too happy to talk all things weddings.

Click the link below and it'll take you to our wee Q&A session.
Thank you Kate for asking me.

Bye for now.

Latex Dreams

When I get the opportunity to work with photographer Erin Elizabeth Kelly, I always jump at the chance. She is an amazing girl with such a fresh vision.

It was great to create the hair to help showcase the new handmade latex collection by Kaori's Latex Dreams. Their collaboration with Erin was fantastic.

Here are the images from the shoot, which were shot in Filthy McNasties in Belfast.
